Contact DONALD PYWELL at donaldpywell@comcast.com or call 610-459-2790 PO Box 12 Donald Pywell began his artistic career when he studied painting at the Fleisher Art Memorial, and Philadelphia College of Art. While there, his aesthetic interest turned to sculpture and, in time, to goldsmithing, which he calls “ a form of sculpture –but in miniature.” After apprenticing with Wesley Emmons Goldsmith, Philadelphia, PA he opened his own studio in Chadds Ford, PA. He began his interpretations of Andrew Wyeth’s work in the early 1980’s at the request of Betsy Wyeth, a long-time admirer and supporter of his work. Since then, he has created a collection of over 90 major pieces of jewelry and sculpture for the Wyeth family, which will be on display at The Brandywine River Museum from Nov. 28, 2008 to Jan. 11, 2009 in a special exhibit-DONALD PYWELL: Golden Impressions of Andrew Wyeth. Most recently, Donald Pywell created a collection of jewelry for the Philadelphia Museum of Art in conjunction with the Freda Kahlo Show. The collection was subsequently on display at The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art-June-September,2008. Donald's jewelry has been presented at the following Museums: The Philadelphia Museum of Art and The High Museum in Atlanta, Georgia in conjunction with the Andrew Wyeth -Memory and Magic Show. Donald was chosen to participate in the Timeless Treasures Jewelry Fair, in November 2007 at The Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. Donald Pywell gathers inspiration from architecture and the natural environment. His custom jewelry varies from incredibly realistic pieces of nature to stunning contemporary creations. Pywell’s custom-designed work can be found in the collections of many notable families here in the United States, around the world, and in museums and galleries throughout the country . |
